What we do
What is the purpose of the group?
The Hataitai School Parents’ Group (HSPG) works with the school Board of Trustees and teachers to maintain and develop the interests and welfare of the School and foster the school’s links with its community. HSPG aims to provide the School with amenities and equipment, and promote a positive and friendly school community of parents, friends, students and staff.
Who are we?
We're a group of parents with children at Hataitai School who are keen to help out the school and plan fun events for the school and wider community. HSPG acts as the umbrella group for a number of parent groups that support the school including:
The Fundraising group;
Our Place/Your Place - responsible for gardens and the school environment;
Liaison with school sports groups.
New members are welcome to join the group for as long as they would like to participate!
One of the great things about having new members is the potential for sharing new ideas, we are open to all suggestions!
How do we function?
We generally aim to meet once a term, as we usually have one event per term. A lot of correspondence is online. People are free to opt in or out of each activity in response to their availability and interests.
HSPG also aims to involve other members of the school and wider community to help run or support the running of events. So even if you decide not to join the group – we’d still love your support with an event or activity during the year.
What kind of events / activities do we usually do?
We always work with the school to plan a range of events focusing on families, fundraising and parent fun. Such as:
School Fair - our major fundraiser is held every 2 years, the next one will be 2024
A fun night of entertainment for the adults - e.g. Great Gatsby, Bavarian Beer Garden nights held previously. Lots of fun!
Matariki (June) - a family gathering to celebrate Maori New Year - a really fun evening with food, mini-concert/talks and treasure hunts
Yummy Fruit Promotion - collect Yummy stickers and cut-out labels (all year round!) and we'll get some free sports gear
Calendar Art - your child's artwork turned into calendars, diaries, note cards and notebooks - a fabulous gift for family, with the school raising money at the same time (Term 3 or 4)
Family Gathering & End of Year Celebration (December) - grab some takeaways, bring a picnic or buy some yummy food at the school and join in the singing
Grandparents and Special Persons Day - Term 3 (Date TBC)
Who decides where the money is spent?
The HSPG work closely with the Principal and the Board of Trustees to set a school wishlist. These items are evaluated against a set of criteria, with higher importance being given to those items which are of educational benefit or will enhance the overall school environment, as well as those which will benefit the school on an ongoing basis. We helped fund the Junior and Bottom Pitch Playgrounds, the School Library, painting of the school grounds and updates to classroom technology.

Sport shirts, House shirts and Hoodies
Hataitai School hoodies now available for $55. A great addition to your child's sports kit or your sideline look and also a handy piece for everyday wear at school. A classic fit hoodie, in dark navy polycotton (280/300gsms) with a soft brushed inside lining . The front pouch pocket will keep hands nice and warm. Kids sizes are 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and adult sizes XS, S, M, L and XL. Most sample sizes are held at the School Office.
Hataitai School Sports T-shirts Product Information The updated sports t-shirts are now ready for ordering! Priced at just $27. Be proud to represent Hataitai School - it is highly recommended that all children own a t-shirt, as these will be used to represent the school in a number of sports, including floorball, miniball and athletics. These t-shirts are pretty cool, so your kids may well want to wear them to school as an everyday t-shirt as well! Made from great quality quick-dry material, these are an easy care garment. Kids sizes are 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and adult sizes S and M. Sample sizes will be held at the School Office.
Hataitai School "House" T-shirts: back by popular demand! Kid's t-shirts are $20 Adult's t-shirts (Unisex or Women's) are $30 All t-shirts are available in Green, Red, Blue, Yellow and Charcoal. Sample sizes will be held at the School Office. Ordering Process and Delivery To order fill in the form below taking care to check all details are correct. Then make your payment by internet banking or at the school office. Orders with the supplier will be actioned twice a term and t-shirts will need to be collected from the office.
