Nga Wai Newsletters 2021
Nga Wai have had a creative start to the term. We are looking at the stories that help create the places we live in and the places we enjoy. Students have created presentations of people or places they connect to.
The range of subjects has been incredible!
-Wonderland in Miramar,
-Wellington Rugby Club,
and this is only three out of 83.
We also set out on a trip to the CBD. Our students heard the stories of the city's sculptures and created their own, followed a section of the 1840 shoreline walk and explored just some of the tales that Te Papa holds.
All of this to help build an idea of the places and people that shaped Wellington over the past 100+ years.
Alongside our stories we have been building 3D letters, writing riddles, learning about a famous aviatrix, gardening, tinkering with robotics and coding, and understanding that the Universe is immense.
If you get a chance to pop in, be sure to see the scale models of the Solar System. Starting in Te Moana, every centimetre of the model represents one million kilometres!!! Be sure to bring your walking shoes to find Neptune and Pluto (we still think it deserves planet status).
