Karate

is a martial art from indigenous fighting methods called te (? literally: "hand"?) and Chinese kenpo.[1][2] Karate is a striking art using punching, kicking, knee and elbow strikes, and open-handed techniques such as knife-hands (karate chop). Grappling, locks, restraints, throws, and vital point strikes are taught in some styles.

 Competitions:
Three Wellington League Tournaments and National

Karate Championships for intermediate to Advanced students

 Uniform: 
Beginners = optional

Intermediate/Advanced = Karate gi

 Cost:
$30 per term donation to Hataitai School

Half price for 2nd family member, 3rd family member free
 Season:
ALL YEAR. Tuesday and Thursday 4.00-5.30pm and 1 extra training “Gasshuku” each term on a Saturday
 Safety: 
Mouth guard mandatory for all students.  Protective gear for fighting is provided by the club (paid for by the $30 donation)
 Coaches:    
Richard Taylor, 20 years experience in Guju ryu Karate.  Regional referee for Karate New Zealand
