The vision we have for Hataitai School is to have
Confident, independent, highly achieving students who enjoy learning.
This year we have introduced the Hataitai Way which stems from both our strategic plan developed by the Board of Trustees and our school curriculum document developed by teaching staff. We will be sharing lots of this information with you in various parent booklets over the next term.
We also have a new curriculum document based on the new national curriculum coming into effect now. The vision we have above is at the centre of our curriculum and is surrounded by
-
the curriculum essence- what we teach,
-
our learning expectations- what we expect our students to achieve,
-
our school critical competencies- the skills and attitudes we want them to develop,
-
the Hataitai way- the way we behave and treat each other and our beliefs about learning- the most effective way to teach and help our 21st century students learn.
Each week in our newsletter we will highlight one part of our school organisation or curriculum.
In the meantime make sure you have a copy of the Hataitai School Parent handbook for 2010. We have sent a copy home with this newsletter if we did not have a record of you taking one either on Sunday or from the office. Also available on Sunday was the strategic plan. If you did not get a copy and would like one either ring the office or get one from the school website.
We have new names for our learning communities this year- all centred around the four elements. See the parent handbook for further information.
One of our plans for this year is to demolish Room 8 and re-build a two classroom block in its place. While this was meant to have started it has been temporarily stalled. Year 1 students have begun working out of the hall in light of this planned work. We will let you know what is happening with the building process as soon as we can.
You have brains in your head.
